Slovak showcase pack for Eurosonic 2019

The Eurosonic-Noorderslag, the biggest showcase festival in Europe will focus on Czech and Slovak music in 2019. The Eurosonic showcase festival starts 16th January in the Dutch city of Groningen and we bring you a brief presentation of Slovak participants at this prestigious event.

Isama Zing aka Pjoni at Eurosonic 2019

Jonatán Pastirčák aka Pjoni aka Isama Zing is a musician. He was nominated by the public Radio_FM, a European Broadcasting Union member, to represent Slovakia at the Eurosonic 2019 showcase festival, which is the biggest event of its kind in Europe. Isama Zing has also won the most points at the 2018 listening session at SHARPE, which is the first and only showcase festival - where performers showcase their talents to industry professionals - in Slovakia. On Thursday, 17th January, he was playing his music live in Groningen, the Netherlands. Shortly ahead of his gig RSI asked him what was the difference between the music he does as Pjoni and as Isama Zing.

Pohoda wins two European Festival Awards

The largest Slovak multi-genre festival Pohoda was awarded two out of 15 of the European Festival Awards - the Award for Excellence and Passion andthe Take a Stand Award. The jury gave the award to its director and founder Michal Kaščák for his contribution to the scene in Slovakia and Europe. The Take a Stand Award was presented to Pohoda by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics, who praised the extraordinary commitment to freedom and sense of social responsibility outside the festival stages as well.
